A late C16th oak enclosed armchair with elaborately carved back and attractive dry surface.
A delightful little chair that wears its four and a half centuries on its sleeve.
Not, perhaps, a purist piece, with absent crest rail, repairs and the seat panel looks to have been replaced, albeit a long time ago, but a wonderfully decorative, early chair.
English, c1580 and later.
