An extraordinary, primitive, seated artist’s lay figure.
A wonderful piece of folk art, likely made by the artist themselves at some point in the C19th.
Although primitive in appearance, the hands and feet in particular are rather accomplished, as are the rudimentary joints, fashioned using bent iron nails.
Original finish, some losses, most notably the face, however it’s absence gives the figure an almost ethereal quality.
