A rare survivor: a wonderful, sculptural, little late C18th primitive child’s chair.
Lovely colour, retaining much of its original painted finish, and crusty, time-worn patina.
Yes it’s got issues – repairs, bits have been replaced over its 240 odd years, there’s even a hole worn in the seat – but this little chair has served countless generations of youngsters over the last four centuries.
Lovely colour, retaining much of its original painted finish, and crusty, time-worn patina.
Don’t sit on it, put it on a pedestal and admire it.
Wales or West Country, c1780.
