A fine early C19th, Edo Period, Japanese escritoire.

Elaborate fretwork gallery and corner supports.
Richly decorated to all sides in green ground with gilded borders and exquisitely painted birds, butterflies, foliage and floral motifs.
Applied porcelain birds and flower decoration to the fall front.

The interior compartments lacquered with a blue baize writing surface having a tooled leather border.

Wear commensurate with age, a few historic worm holes but generally in very good order.
