A wonderfully executed, very large, c1970s social realism study of three figures in a municipal chamber interior.
A fascinating work with stylistic echoes of some of the greatest artists of the period including Hockney and Lucian Freud, the latter particularly in the rather unsettling expression of the female sitter.
Although the artist is unknown, the rendering of the figures, light and the setting is indicative that the painting was certainly produced by a professional hand.
