An exceptional mid C18th North Wales oak dairy dresser, originally from a farm in Trawsfynydd, Snowdonia.
A rare piece and by far the best example I have come across, this is a wonderfully primitive dresser constructed in the heaviest, ancient Welsh oak with thick, rough sawn backboards and pot board slats.
Superb colour and patination with an attractive decorative fretwork canopy of cut out hearts, roundels and arches.
Wear commensurate with age, treen knob handles added in the early C19th, probably replacing smaller brass knobs or drops.
Welsh, c1740.
Measurements: H: 78.5” (199.5cm); W: 63.75” (162cm); 17.25” (44cm).
