A wonderfully nostalgic, early C20th billboard which once adorned the former Regent Cinema in Deal, Kent.
Wooden frame with inset reverse painted glass panels and layers of historic paint.
The Regent was originally built in 1928 as a simple pavilion for musical concerts but was converted into a cinema in 1933 with the addition of an art deco frontage.
This billboard would have been added at this time, and, hung at eye level, the poster within would inform potential punters of the day’s programme.
The board contains a poster from 1963, the year the cinema closed, and it seems likely this was the final programme shown.
