An exquisitely hand painted carriage panel, dating to the late C18th, bearing the crest of the Dukes of Beaufort.
Specifically relating to the 6th Duke, politician Henry Charles Somerset, (1766 – 1835), this would have been slid in place on a carriage to signify that the duke was on board.
Obvious losses though what remains appears stable.
Measurements: H: 11.75” (30cm); W: 8” (20.5cm).
