A wonderful, honest, sculptural, early C18th, Welsh primitive stick chair with the best nutty colour and patina.
Thick oak slab seat, ash legs, arms and spindles.
A rare survivor, this unique piece of Welsh vernacular furniture looks to have started life as a three legged chair but was adapted to four legs very soon after it was made.
West Wales, c1740.
