Early C19th Pembroke Regiments Campaign Chest

A fine and interesting C19th two part mahogany military campaign chest related to the Pembrokeshire Militia, later Pembroke Rifles.

A utilitarian example, ‘Pembroke 3 Pattern Chest’ painted to the reverse suggesting that it was used for regimental use rather than by an individual officer.

Made c1820, with pine linings, removable feet and knob handles (one a later replacement but a very close match), carrying handles to the upper section added later, towards the end of the C19th.

The upper section of the chest also has holes for the feet, suggesting it could have been used independently.
