Plaster Bust of The Venus De Capua

A large, late C19th or early C20th patinated cast plaster bust after the Venus de Capua.

The Venus of Capua is a sculpture made during the empire of Hadrian (117 to 138 AD). It is presumed that the Venuses of Milo and Capua are copies of an original lost Aphrodite, attributed to Lysippus, one of the great sculptors of classical Greece.

Measurements: H: 28” (71cm); W: 20” (51cm); D: 14” (36cm).
