A superb life size terracotta sculpture of a gentleman (reputed to be ‘Mr Paul, The Musician’) by Australian artist Barbara Tribe (1913-2000).
Signed and dated to the reverse, 1968.
Tribe is considered a significant twentieth-century portrait artist, working both in painting and sculpture. She spent most of her career in St Ives, Cornwall and exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts and the Royal Society of British Sculptors.
Her work features in the collections of numerous prominent institutions, particularly in her native Australia.
