Low Back Windsor Chair

A very rare early C19th splat back low Windsor chair in elm and ash with chunky arm rail and crinoline stretcher.
This type of chair, attributed to Buckinghamshire and never intended to have an upper hoop, is noted in Bernard Cotton’s work ‘The English Regional Chair’.
This example is the only one I have come across with a crinoline stretcher, likely dating it no later than c1820.

Lovely light colour and excellent condition throughout.

Measurements: H: 27” (69cm); W: 21” (54cm); D: 15.5” (40cm).
